Chicago Sky player Marina Mabrey got a Flagrant 1 foul for hitting Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark in the head during their WNBA game. The hit happened in the third quarter when Mabrey swung her arm. After checking video, referees said it was a dangerous play.
Caitlin Clark said after the game: "It was a basketball play. I got hit, but that happens sometimes." Clark kept playing and scored 23 points to help the Fever win 88-87.
The WNBA is being stricter this year about rough plays against stars like Clark. Other players have been fined for hard hits on Clark recently.
Mabrey wasn’t kicked out of the game, but Clark shot free throws because of the foul. Chicago’s coach said it wasn’t on purpose. The WNBA might still fine Mabrey later.
