In a dramatic escalation of tensions
in the Middle East, Iran has launched a large-scale missile operation named “Operation
True Promise 3” in direct retaliation to Israeli airstrikes on its key
military and nuclear facilities. The operation marks a significant turning
point in the ongoing hostilities between the two countries, with both sides
suffering human and infrastructural losses.
What
Triggered the Retaliation?
On Friday night, Israeli forces
carried out precision airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities,
including Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. The Israeli
government claimed it was a preemptive strike to neutralize threats related to
Iran’s nuclear development program.
The airstrikes caused significant
damage to military bases and residential areas, killing at least 78 Iranian
personnel, including high-ranking military officers and scientists. Over 320
individuals were injured in the attacks, according to Iranian state media.
Iran
Responds With “Operation True Promise 3”
In response, Iran launched Operation
True Promise 3, firing over 100 missiles toward Israeli military and
civilian targets. The operation continued with a second wave on Saturday
morning.
According to Iranian Defense
Minister General Ahmad Vahidi, the operation is “justified retaliation”
and will continue until Israel stops its aggression. He added that Iran
will not tolerate further attacks on its territory.

Operation True Promise 3 Launched After Israeli Attacks on Nuclear Sites
Impact
on Israel
Israel reported the deaths of 2
civilians and over 40 injuries as missiles landed near residential
neighborhoods in Tel Aviv and surrounding areas. Emergency services were
mobilized across the country, and citizens were instructed to stay indoors and
seek shelter.
Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense
system intercepted many of the incoming missiles, but several still managed to
penetrate defense lines, causing widespread concern among the population.

Global
Concerns Over Nuclear Safety
International organizations have
expressed alarm over the targeting of Iran’s nuclear sites. Fortunately,
radiation levels near the Natanz facility remain stable, and the International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that nuclear containment measures are
still in place.
However, the escalation has raised
fears of a broader regional conflict, especially with Iran’s promise to
continue its response if provoked further.
Leadership
Shake-up in Iran
In a swift move, Iran’s Supreme
Leader Ayatollah Khamenei removed several senior officers from their
posts following the death of top military commander Hossein Salami, who
was among those killed in the Israeli strike.
The leadership reshuffle is being
seen as both a reaction to the intelligence failure and a preparation for
further military engagement.
International
Reactions
- United Nations:
Called for immediate de-escalation and offered to mediate peace talks.
- United States:
Urged restraint on both sides while closely monitoring developments.
- Russia & China:
Condemned Israeli attacks and expressed support for Iran’s sovereignty.
What
Happens Next?
The situation remains volatile.
Analysts fear that continued strikes and counterstrikes could lead to a full-blown
war involving other regional powers like Syria, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia.
Military experts also warn that if
nuclear sites are repeatedly targeted, the risk of a nuclear incident or
wider regional conflict will increase exponentially.
